Shelly Aamodt

The parable of the mustard seed found in Matthew 13:31-32 is one of my favorites.  From it I have gleaned, that in all I do, what little I have to offer, is much when God is in it.  How evident that truth has been throughout my life.

Growing up in rural Midwest America , my values and direction were always conservative.  From my father, a World War II veteran came the understanding of the importance of love for country and sacrifice for freedom.  My parents instilled in me an interest in current affairs and political awareness.  Many a Sunday we had discussions regarding a 60 Minute episode or what had taken place on the McLaughlin Group.  It was established early on by teachers and classmates alike, that I was of opinion on almost every issue.  That boldness can be attributed to my family.

My love for history and the social sciences were present and grew with age.  My degree in Elementary Education came from the University of Wisconsin River Falls , where I also obtained a Social Science Minor.   I had the wonderful privilege of twelve years of teaching in grades first through eighth grade.  I also had the opportunity to have a short teaching stint in England.  Over the years I have continued to take graduate classes in the field of Education.

However, it has been as a wife of twenty-eight summers to a generous, loving and supportive husband and mother of two fantastic children, that life has been most rewarding.  Not a big job by the world’s standards, but the most important job from my perspective.

Presently, I am a small business owner; producing video presentations for special occasions, such as, wedding receptions, memorials or graduations.  Each day you will find me with my two dogs at side, working at the computer creating a Mustard Seed Presentations video. What a blessing it is to do something that is so enjoyable, allowing for my God given talents to be used.

Actively studying American history and political science is more than a hobby for me.  During the eight years of the Clinton Presidency, my heart ached for our country.  The frustrations of seeing what I valued dismissed by so many brought me to an active role in both writing and participating in local politics.  In two years I have written nearly 100 letters, many published throughout the nation.  With the desire to speak for the innocent baby that has no voice or to address an issue such as, the importance of having non-activist judges, came a realization that although I am one small person in this world, if God is in it, my voice can be used.
