Compassion
For Rush

Will compassion rule the day?
As a major league Ditto-head, Rush’s recent words spoken grieved my heart. This man who had tremendously influenced my life was now being called to admit to an addiction that involved pain medication that may or may not include legal ramifications.
Rush to millions across the “fruited plain” is not only a great conservative voice of reason, but has become a staple in one’s life. Therefore, this tragedy will be felt by many in a variety of ways, for a variety of reasons. From sadness to disappointment, lost to compassion; a gambit of emotion will most assuredly be present with those who care deeply for this man and those who despise and wish him harm.
My question; just where will compassion be found in light of this painful situation? Did the political left show their compassionate nature when Democrat Presidential conte! nders had their most recent of debates? Did their need for laughter call for judgment on Rush? Or do we see true compassion in comments made by commentators who gleefully relate the news concerning Rush’s situation? Democrats and those from the left political spectrum appear to think that they are showing compassion as they find the need to point to Rush’s past moral comments in relation to those using drugs. Are they showing compassion? Or might these same moralists who speak of Rush’s statements someday need compassion shown towards them?
Or will true compassion be surprisingly found by media and left at the door steps of compassionate conservatives? Perhaps compassion will be found in those who don’t just say, “I feel your pain,” but rather in those who actually in word and deed do. Maybe it will be found with those who do not blame the “fill in the blank” conspirators for Rush’s woes, but rather call it for what! it is; Rush induced, with consequence and responsibility coming from Rush.
The question asked by the media; will Rush’s listeners remain loyal in view of the noted contradictions? Time will tell, but as someone who knows all too well that we do live in glass houses and that yet by the grace of God go I; true compassion will be found in my household. Neither excuse nor denial will form this compassion, but humanity and respect will direct my ways.
Finally, my prayers, as well as many prayers all across this wonderful country go to Rush and his family. May this country show goodness during this hardship and may we grow in our compassion for our fellow man.
