Democrat’s Discrimination Allowed

It is time to identify Senate Democrat’s actions for what they are, acts of discrimination, plain and simple. In addition, it is time to point to their shameful behavior with disgust. And finally, the time has come to question why there is little citizen outrage concerning the evident prejudice that has been allowed for political gain.

Senate Democrats have boldly gone where no Senators have gone before, without apology they have acted with prejudice against President Bush’s U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals judicial nominee, Miguel Estrada. With their actions come demands that he make known what his decisions would be on many important future social issues. This has never been asked before of any other nominee of either party. With more than the Constitutional required 51 votes needed to place him on the bench, Democrat’s unprecedented filibuster has denied this highly qualified, man of integrity, American citizen his seat.

Obvious discrimination is seen in the fact that Miguel Estrada, Honduran born, naturalized citizen would be the first Hispanic to serve at such a high level in the American judicial system. Not so obvious discrimination is the shameful labeling of this individual, calling him right wing ideologue, far removed from main stream America.

Allegations are all Democrats base their discrimination on. He is thought to be of a different ideology then the “protected” class of Democrats, a different judicial temperament, and not in line with the “bread and butter” interest groups that are pushing the Democrat’s hatred.

Why would their prejudicial actions be tolerated in the year 2003? Is it really acceptable to tell certain people that they need not apply, that if they are thought to be conservative, may be influenced by their Christian faith or don’t endorse abortion openly, that they are somehow undesirable?

Finally, with regret one must ask, why are so many sitting unmoved by this obvious discrimination? Sadly, the answer may come in a question; who cares?
