National Tragedy

A vulnerable nation in grief acknowledges strength

We awoke Saturday morning, a nation brought to its knees once again; a reminder of how short our journey, how vulnerable our steps and how needed our focus must be.

True courage was seen in their eyes. Sacrifice to nation, family and self, doing that which was of importance. Gratitude must be given, for their passionate love of the skies will not die, but continue throughout generations.

However, with this tragedy and that of September 11th, we now point to our vulnerabilities, that of being lulled into believing in false security. Today it is evident as never before, as our new century began, just how soft the ground had truly become. From mirage of booming economy, linking corruption with stock market high, denying reality of terrorist and enemy’s existence, to acknowledging NASA’s resources lacking; we have now been brought to realization that the 90’s decade of contentment in sleepiness, brought us to our national mourning.

Heart broken our nation, yet blessed to have known the honorable lost. Now a renewed awakening to need for security, no longer allowing naiveté, but rather reality, before tragedy strikes once again.

There is good news however, American spirit is one that rises to occasion, seeks wisdom and knows perseverance. Throughout history our country has focused on the heavens, knows the importance of making a difference while short our journey, and gives thanksgiving to those of faith that acknowledge where our strength does lie.
