Political grievance!?

Throughout the Smart ordeal, goodwill and admiration were abundantly given as we focused on Elizabeth and the steadfast Smart family. Today, with great joy and thanksgiving, our nation is celebrating her homecoming. Our prayers were answered. As her uncle stated, “Miracles happen.” Elizabeth Smarts return, in fact a miracle!

Not truly comprehending what the Smart family has endured, room for exception must be given. However, as hurtful words were spoken while addressing their well-wishers, offense and disappointment was taken by many. One must try to understand the frustration and emotion felt by the family, but cruel, unjust and personal attacks directed towards Wisconsin Representative Sensenbrenner, were thoughtless and uncalled for and must not go unanswered. What possible reason was there to push such a negative agenda at that time? Hopefully, not Politics!

Just as our prayers were sent to the Smart family, many prayers must now be directed towards this honorable man and his family. Realize Mr. Sensenbrenner was not responsible for Elizabeth’s disappearance, nor single-handily responsible for her time in captivity. In addition, it must be noted he has been tirelessly working towards providing “real” comprehensive, meaningful legislation that would provide protection for all children, as well as severely punish perpetrators who would cause such destruction. What is the hold up on legislation that embodies the Amber Alert bill? Much has to do with the punishment portion in which “blee! ding-heart” liberals have objected.

Unfortunately, the politically offensive words spoken, abruptly shortens the much needed healing process. There is a time for everything, attacking a principled man out of frustration was shameful and ill-timed. Without excuse, a goodwill apology is needed.

Putting politics aside, as our nation rejoices in Elizabeth’s return, let us hold on to the knowledge miracles happen.
