The August Report and a Declaration from Scripture

I pray that this weeks letter finds you all doing well and being blessed of the LORD. We have much to share.

First, I pass on to you the gratitude and greetings of the workers of the Khmelnitsky Regional Bible Institute. They are grateful for the regular monthly support that many of you provide to Impact Ministries Inc. so that the work of teaching nationals to reach nationals may continue.

Second, I am happy to introduce another church to our growing list of regular monthly support churches. The Beulah Baptist Church in Pensacola, Florida and Pastor David Shofner (a former missionary to El Salvador) have committed to pray for and provide regular monthly support for the work of Impact Ministries Inc. We praise God for them and their commitment to mission work. (They will host a missions conference Sunday August 24 - Wednesday 27th. A meal served each night at 6:00 pm. - program at 7:00 pm - a desert fellowship to follow. The church is at 5805 Beulah Church Rd. Pensacola, Fl. 32526 Phone (850) 944-2143) We also want to thank two of our long time support churches for giving us much needed increases in their annual budgets. Thank you, we appreciate the increased funds. We also are grateful for the churches who receive an annual love offering for the work. Most of our special programs and love offerings for the churches in Ukraine come from these funds. We are grateful for each and every individual God sends our way. We could not work among these people without all of you, thank you.

We received letters and emails asking what method of discipleship we are using. It is somewhat a combination of materials. The basic course we follow in Ukraine is the BEE 2:7. (Navigator 2:7 printed in the Cyrillic alphabet used by most of the former Soviet Nations) I have augmented these lessons with material on church planting - sermon preparation and delivery - lesson formation / teacher training - street evangelism and neighborhood surveying - organizing for worship and lessons on family matters. In the western churches where we teach, we use a slightly different tract. We use our own notes built from scripture over the years combined with some of the basic lessons taught by Navigators. Much of the material I train my people with is based on what is referred to by many as "The Standard", sometimes called the "Christ Model" of discipleship. Almost all of these lessons we trace to Brother Herb Hodges at Kirbywoods Baptist Church in Tennessee. We thank God for him. We recommend a few other books on the subject of discipleship but our curriculum is primarily scripture based. The Bible Institute classes being conducted here in the states are going very well. I have a class every night, Monday through Thursday and one daytime. All of the disciples are growing in knowledge and being encouraged by what they are learning. "Proper Information" (Bible) + "Spiritual Illumination" (The Holy Spirit) equals God's Paradigm > to Motivation > to Spiritually Productive Action. That's the formulae, it works every time.

Our next trip to Ukraine is being planned for March of 2004. Please be praying for us about this trip. We have many new disciples showing an interest in going this time. I am very excited about their attitude toward missions work and hope to get to use this as an opportunity to train them even further. Our trips may be predominantly evangelistic or essentially teaching and encouragement. It all depends on what the leadership in the region perceives the need to be at that time. I work with brother Paul and the pastors to build a schedule and then we depend on the Holy Spirit to carry out His will through the teams. We plan our trips to leave on a Monday, work through the week and only be away from our home churches one Sunday, returning the following Friday or Saturday. (About 10 days) No one ever goes and comes home the same way they were when they left.

I don't have room to reproduce the entire lesson, but Romans chapter 1, tells us a lot about this hysterical fascination our nation has with homosexuality. The lesson is "The Curse of Abandonment". Some points are: #1. This is all coming about because we removed GOD from the classroom. We became vain in our imaginations. (Rm.1:21-22) #2. Because their vile hearts what they do, dishonors their Own bodies. (Rm.1:24-27) #3. America allowed GOD to be rejected and embraced this perversion. Now all of these other curses are being called down on our nation. Not only does society allow them to practice their perverseness but takes pleasure in them teaching others. (Rm.1:28-32) There would not be the hysterical scream from homosexuals for acceptance of their contumacious behavior except they know it's wrong and they seek affirmation. Those who claim to be component of the body of Christ and endorse this lifestyle, declare God a liar and therefore are Not of the body of Christ.
