Where Does Your Senator Stand On Homosexual “Marriage”

Our nation is heading down the path of institutionalizing perversion. Why fight it? Because allowing homosexuals to marry will irreparably harm our country in many ways.

If we do not rise up to stand against this attack on society, America will be irreparably damaged spiritually, morally, socially and financially.

Spiritually, we are charged with resisting the enemy of all of our souls. In Leviticus 18 God clearly speaks of the sin of homosexuality as SIN. He calls it detestable, an “abomination,” and putting it in the same category as incest and sex with animals. Satan says, “Try it, you might like it. It can’t hurt you. Lots of people are doing it.” Whose side do you want to be on?

Morally, the advancement of homosexual marriage has increased out-of-wedlock births. (See the LINK, “Results of Perverted Marriages” below.) Homosexual marriage has been allowed in Scandinavia since the early 1990’s. Not coincidentally, marriage is in decline there, and more children are born out of wedlock. (See LINK below.)

Socially, the very foundation of our society, the family, will be shaken. Since the beginning of time, marriage has been between one man and one woman. As one wag put it, “God made Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve.” The deliberate gender confusion will cause social chaos if we allow homosexual marriage to become an institution.

Financially, the cost of same-sex intercourse and promiscuity is staggering. The government accounting office should run the numbers on the enormous costs of homosexual behavior, but they won’t; too many career politicians are afraid of the homosexual lobby. But common sense will help you understand how this will cost all of us billions of dollars.

Homosexual behavior is all about gratification and often, deviance for its own sake. Its participants, both male and female, are extraordinarily promiscuous. Male homosexuals average twenty-five times as many sexual partners in their lifetimes as do straight males. Lesbians are almost as promiscuous as their male counterparts. In 1994 the National Health and social Life Survey found that 75% of married men and 90% of married women are sexually faithful. This is not true of homosexuals, even in “committed” relationships. The Netherlands (Holland) was the first country to permit same-sex marriage. A recent study conducted there revealed that relationships among homosexual men last an average of one and a half years. (The majority of first marriages in the United States last at least ten years.) Worse, during that short period, each of the men had an average of eight sexual partners outside the “marriage.”

In general, homosexual “relationships” are very short-lived compared to those of heterosexuals. So why do they fight so hard for the right to marry?

Validation and insurance. Homosexuals need validation for their deviant lifestyles. They are desperate for attention and true love. Unfortunately they are looking in the wrong places. Deep inside, they know that what they do is wrong, is against nature. That is why the suicide rate among homosexuals is one of the highest of any demographic. Fortunately, some who are desperate to escape the lifestyle have done so. If you (or someone you know) wants to be delivered, visit the website of Out of Exile (see LINK below). You might also want to read my May 12, 2001 article, “Gay to Straight. You can find it in the Conservative Truth archives.

Homosexual marriage would force businesses to give family health insurance benefits to the “spouses” of their homosexual employees. “What’s wrong with that?” you say. Homosexuals are by far the main population of AIDS carriers and sufferers (although the liberal mainstream media fights hard to conceal those facts). AIDS is very expensive to treat, and the treatment goes on for many years. Do you want to foot the bill for the results of homosexual promiscuity? You will if homosexual marriage becomes the law of the land.

Homosexual activists are not just pushing for same-sex marriage - they are also trying to redefine marriage to include multiple participants. The Chicago “1972 Gay Rights Platform in the United States” called for the “Repeal of all legislative provisions that restrict the SEX or NUMBER of persons entering into a marriage unit; and the extension of legal benefits of marriage to all persons who cohabit, regardless of SEX or NUMBERS.”

Translation: If they have their way, a homosexual has a job that provides him or her with a good health plan could “marry” ten or twenty of their AIDS-infected friends. His or her insurance company would then be obliged to extend the “legal benefits of marriage” (expensive health insurance) to those ten or twenty “marriage partners.” Who would pay for it? Not the insurance company; they have to make a profit. You and I would pay for it through hugely increased premiums.

You don’t think it can happen? They stated their intentions clearly in 1972. Since then they have achieved many goals in their plan, and are well on their way to achieving others. They have broken down society’s natural aversion to perversion. The average uninformed “man on the street” says “live and let live” when it comes to homosexuality, because he doesn’t understand the danger it poses to our society. They have blackmailed many companies into providing health benefits to homosexual partners of employees. And they have achieved various forms of homosexual marriage in several jurisdictions. How long do you think it will be before you see an announcement in the newspaper of the “marriage” of Tom, Dick and Harry?

What can we do to fight this evil plan? We can support the Federal Marriage Amendment, which reads, “Marriage in the United States shall consist only of the union of a man and a woman. Neither this Constitution, nor the constitution of any State, shall be construed to require that marriage or the legal incidents thereof be conferred upon any union other than the union of a man and a woman."

We must encourage our representatives to vote for the Amendment and hold them accountable publicly. The Federal Marriage Amendment (SJ 40) currently has 18 co-sponsors in the United States Senate. The Center for Reclaiming America has contacted the offices of all 100 US Senators to determine their positions on the Amendment. (See LINK below.)

Support for or opposition to the Amendment falls mostly along party lines. Most Democrats, not surprisingly, oppose the Amendment, and most Republicans support it. At the bottom of the Internet Research links below, I have summarized the positions of the 100 US Senators. For more detailed information, visit the website of the Center for Reclaiming America. As you read where the various senators stand, remember that the great majority of Americans support the Amendment. If your Senator does not, contact his or her office and ask, “Why not.”

After you read where your Senators stand, you can’t plead ignorance. You are now responsible to do something. Don’t just send emails – they’re almost worthless. Pick up the phone and spend a few bucks to let their staff know how you feel. The most liberal politicians in the country still need to get reelected. If they start to feel the heat, they may change their position on traditional, God-ordained marriage.

True (heterosexual, monogamous) marriage is better for society and for its participants than any perversion of the institution could ever hope to be. According to the research of Focus on the Family author Glenn Stanton (see LINK below.):

Married people live longer, happier lives.
They enjoy higher levels of physical and mental health.
They recover from illness quicker.
They earn and save more money.
They are more reliable employees.
They suffer less stress.
They are less likely to become victims of any kind of violence.
They find the job of parenting more successful and enjoyable.
They have more satisfying and fulfilling sex lives.”
True marriage is better for kids, too. Stanton shows that, “Compared with children in any other situation:

Children with married parents need to visit doctors less often for physical or emotional problems.
They do better in all measures of intellectual and academic development.
They are more sympathetic toward others and much less likely to be in trouble at school, at home or with the police.
They are much less likely to use drugs and be involved in violent behavior or premarital sexual activity and childbearing.
It is uncommon for kids who live with married parents to live in poverty or be victims of physical or sexual abuse.”
In 1885 the US Supreme Court, in Murphy v. Ramsey declared, “Certainly no legislation can be supposed more wholesome and necessary in the founding of a free, self-governing commonwealth…than that which seeks to establish it on the basis of the idea of the family, as consisting in and springing from the union for life of one man and one woman in the holy estate of matrimony; the sure foundation of all that is stable and noble in our civilization.”

Amendment 2 was passed by Colorado voters in 1992 to prohibit gay rights laws - yet in 1996, a radicalized US Supreme Court overturned that law, spurning the will of the people. Which Court do you believe had the best interests of our nation in mind, and which was engaging in creating law rather than interpreting law?

Let’s let God have the last Word: “So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. And God blessed them, and God said unto them, be fruitful, and multiply.” Genesis 1:27-28.

SEE WHERE YOUR SENATOR STANDS:

If you live in Alabama, Arizona, Idaho, Kansas, Kentucky, Mississippi, Missouri, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas or Utah, you are blessed because both your Senators are Republicans who support the Federal Marriage Amendment. If you live in Arkansas, Connecticut, Delaware, Louisiana, Maryland, Michigan, New Jersey, North Dakota, South Dakota, Vermont, Washington or Wisconsin, you are cursed with two Democrat Senators who oppose the Amendment. (Actually, one of Vermont’s Senators, Jim Jeffords, is a Democrat who calls himself and Independent.)

If you live in California, Massachusetts or New York you are doubly cursed. Californians must deal with the shame of having elected Barbara Boxer and Diane Feinstein, two women who consistently support every issue that defies God and morality. Massachusetts is represented by the evil twins, Kennedy and Kerry. New York has the spineless Charles Schumer and the Wicked Witch of the North, Hillary. Naturally, all oppose this Amendment that would preserve marriage and protect our children.

If you live in Illinois, Iowa, Florida, Minnesota, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon or South Carolina, there’s good news and there’s bad news. You have one Senator who supports morality, and one who supports promiscuity. I’ll bet you can guess which party each belongs to.

Colorado, Hawaii, Indiana, New Hampshire, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia, and Wyoming all have at least one Senator who has taken “no position” on this issue. In most cases they are Democrats with the other Senator being a Republican who supports the Amendment. Unfortunately there are a few Republicans in this group who are members of the “No Comment” Club of Cowards. I actually respect those who openly oppose the Amendment more than these cowards who state that they have no position. They all have a position; they’re just afraid to make it public. They are either for it, but are afraid of their liberal constituents; or they are against it and are afraid conservative voters will boot them out of office.

Maine has the distinction of being the only state with two Republicans who oppose the Amendment. New Hampshire has one Senator, John Sununu, who opposes. Lincoln Chafee is in opposition, but he is a RINO (Republican In Name Only), so I’m not sure if he counts. I don’t know what it is about the New England states. Maybe there’s something in the water. But not one of these states supports traditional marriage. My advice for Christians who live in those states is to get out as soon as possible. I can’t guarantee your safety if you remain there.
