Alien Groups Warned To Stop Preaching ‘Isms’
By BRIG. GEN. FRANK T. HINES
Administrator of Veterans Affairs.
When we realize the hard beginnings, the difficulties overcome in carving out this new nation of ours, with its new conceptions of freedom and liberty, we cannot help but admire and revere the unconquerable courage of the early settlers -- who would not take “no” for an answer, and won out in the end.
Thinking of the high spirits of these brave forebears of ours, it is difficult to understand the attitude of certain alien groups who now come to our shores, presumably with the thought of becoming American citizens. Many of the things they advocate do not fit in with the ideals upon which the Founding Fathers planned either our Government or the lives of our people.
They must realize that the tenets of Communism, Fascism and
Nazism are foreign to our constitutional form of government, and that the American people are not sympathetic with these moves.
Contrast their lot in free America today with the problems of those who founded this nation.
Aliens Should Learn American Ideals
It would appear to me that they should be well satisfied with the many opportunities that come as result of acquiring citizenship, if such is possible, in our country, and before attempting to advocate changes in our form of government and our methods of procedure thereunder, it would be well for them first to learn what the American form of government stands for.
They cause among themselves and among other citizens of our nation racial prejudices and hatred, that interfere with their progress and our own -- and if such an attitude is persisted in, it measures not only to curtail such efforts, but to entirely eliminate them.
I have supreme confidence in the common sense of the American citizenry, and I am sure they will not tolerate for long any movement that interferes with their progress, their happiness, or any attempt to undermine their principles of the true American form of government.
I think we should condemn such actions as un-American. We cannot and should not attempt to follow these alien ideas, which stir up hatreds and cause friction among Americans.
We have great sympathy with the thought that the European problems should be peacefully solved, but we believe they should stay where they belong -- in Europe.

This article came from a Seattle newspaper clipping during WW11. Found
among some of my grandmothers scrapbook items. There was no date since it was only a clipping. Above it was a picture of German guns which read: Even heavier guns are stationed in the fortifications on which Hitler places his reliance for defense. picture by International News Photo.
This article to me appears to be a voice from the past. A good reminder that the Socialist propaganda that we hear today was heard formerly, and rejected as it should have been, and should continue to be.
Please feel free to post this article which shows the true American values of our government during WW11. Have we
forgotten what our forefathers built for us? Will we cave to the pressures of those who would destroy everything that America stands for? If you participate in other forums which ‘ism’s’ are regularly promoted. If you value the American way of life. The principles which this country is founded on then we must reinforce what America stands for. True freedom without false hopes in failed ‘ism’s’ which have proven over and over that they do not work. That they create dictatorships of evil empires of hatred.
