A
Congratulatory Challenge

This message goes out to all Republican officials,
whether elected, or re-elected, at the city,
county, state or federal level. First of all,
congratulations on your successful campaign. As
one who has worked behind the scenes and is
currently serving as my precincts’ party
chairman, I am well aware of the sacrifices and
efforts that have gone into your campaigns. May
your time in public service be both rewarding and
productive.
Across the nation, the people spoke quite clearly
on November 5th. There can be little doubt that,
it’s not about the economy and it’s not about
Iraq. It is about having a government that works
for the people of the United States of America.
It’s about reminding the government, we don’t
work for you, you work for us. From time to time,
elected officials have to be reminded of that
fact, and the people sent out a very big reminder
this year.
I have a few things I’d like you to remember as
you serve out your term. I hope you will listen.
Except for a few months in 2001, for the first
time since the Taft Congress of 1952 do we,
Republicans, hold the office of President with the
support of a majority in both the House and
Senate. I’d like to keep it that way for a long
time to come.
You must remember, it wasn’t people like me who
put you in office. I am a lifelong conservative
republican and my vote will not waiver. I support
the principles of conservative thought and
governance, and you’re going to have to mess up
pretty bad to lose my vote. The people who elected
you to office were the swing voters. The people
who were finally fed up with the opposition’s
obstructionism. These people are going to expect
results and it is up to you to deliver! Benjamin
Franklin, when asked what kind of government he
had given us, told us, we have "a republic,
if you can keep it." Well folks, we now have
a Republican government, and it is up to each one
of you to deliver results and keep the control we
have worked so hard to obtain. I am asking each of
you to work as hard as you possibly can to put
America back on track. There is so much work to be
done and so many problems to correct.
The people who elected you are tired of seeing our
borders swamped by illegal immigrants, many of
which, seeking to harm America. They are expecting
to see legislation such as House Joint Resolution
59 passed, which would require of children born in
the U.S., that at least one parent be a legal
citizen for the child to be an automatic citizen
and be eligible for taxpayer assistance. The
people who elected you to office are tired of
seeing the goodness that is America being abused
by citizens and foreigners alike. They oppose the
growing trend of multiculturalism and see the
dangers it poses towards America.
Too many Americans have had lives corrupted and
ruined by the American welfare system. We expect
the government to protect the citizens from the
risks they cannot protect themselves against, such
as natural disasters, catastrophic illness,
unemployment and invasion from our enemies. We do
not expect the government to continue to increase
the number of people on welfare. Give these people
back their initiative and pride. Stop making them
dependent upon the government for their needs.
Their grandchildren will thank you for it.
I ask you all to remember exactly what the tax
code is for. It is for the purpose of raising
revenue for the government in such a way that
causes the least distortion of private decision
making. It is not for social engineering. The
people who elected you are not interested in
wealth redistribution, for they know, in America,
we all have the resources to create our own
destiny.
The people who elected you want to see changes in
our judicial system. Over one and one half million
able bodied people are enjoying free housing, free
meals, free television, free libraries, free
gymnasiums, free educational services, all without
working and all at the expense of the American
taxpayer. All they had to do to qualify was to
commit a crime. Put these people to work so that
they can truly "pay" their debt to
society.
The people who elected you want to know why they
are paying over 13% of their income for
healthcare. They demand tort reform. Frivolous
lawsuits and HMO’s gone awry have left the cost
of health care out of reach for many. Hospitals
are forced to swallow the expenses of birthing
children of illegal immigrants while the Joneses
down the street do without medical coverage while
trying to keep their small business afloat.
The people who elected you to office are fed up
with environmental restrictions run amok. They
watched this past summer as literally millions of
acres of America’s timberland went up in flames,
largely because of environmental restrictions. We
want our environment clean and safe for future
generations, but we want it done sensibly. These
voters have seen the barren wasteland that is ANWR,
and they have seen the increase in the population
of the Alaskan caribou herds and they want the
area drilled to reduce the nations dependence on
foreign oil.
The people who elected you to office want to see
an end to the decades old debate of gun rights.
They want to see a ruling to know that "the
people" referred to in the Second Amendment
of the Bill of Rights, are the same "the
people" as referred to in the other
Amendments. They see through the smoke screen and
understand that gun control is more about control
than it is about guns.
The people who elected you to office made an
uproar a few months ago when the Ninth Circuit
Court struck the words "under God" from
the Pledge of Allegiance. Please remember that, we
meant it. For once and for all, let us burn and
bury the ashes of political correctness. It has
contaminated our great nation and brought it to
the brink of destruction. It is up to each of you,
to direct us back down the path of salvation.
It is up to each of you, to uphold the principles
of the Declaration of Independence, the
Constitution, and the Bill of Rights. Benjamin
Franklin gave us a republic and asked if we could
keep it. The American voters have given us a
Republican government. We leave it up to each of
you, to show us it is worthy of keeping.
