The
Media Slant on Invading Iraq

Leave
it to the biased American media and their liberal friends in
Washington to slant the coming invasion of Iraq. The
catch word of the day seems to be American ‘unilateralism.’
Of course this description of the Bush Administrations policy
on dealing with Iraq is inaccurate, but when did the media ever let a
little inaccuracy stop them from slanting the news? And
of course, the media is joined by its liberal allies, many of which
happen to be democratic presidential hopefuls who are all too happy to
add to the mantra.
A good
example can be found in Michael Dobbs piece in the Washington Post http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A47226-2003Jan26.html
which
begins with a strong anti-Bush slant and steadily moves further to the
left. Dobbs quotes sources who tell the reader about Secretary of
Defense Donald Rumsfeld is making ‘stupid’ remarks. But
then, that is of little surprise as the left is fond of labeling
conservatives as ‘stupid.’
John
Kerry, democratic presidential hopeful from Massachusetts is quoted
accusing the Bush administration of "alienating our longtime
friends and allies, alarming potential foes and spreading
anti-Americanism around the world" through its "blustering
unilateralism." Well, let’s talk about this
‘so-called’ unilateralism for a moment.
There are
19 members of NATO, and it so happens that 15 of those 19 nations are
in support of the president and the US. While true
the president may not have the same type of coalition his father
enjoyed during the first US war with Iraq, having 75% of the NATO
allies behind us hardly constitutes unilateralism!
Is it
possible the Washington Post and countless other national news sources
are attempting to slant the news here? Surely
news editors would not allow their disdain for President Bush to
influence reporting the news.
