Leave Our Holidays Alone

Every year at this time the atheist, and whoever, crawl out from whatever rock they hide under most of the time with their barrage of complaints about Christmas and the icons of the Christian Religion.

Well I have some news for you folks, this country was founded by Christians, and continues to be 85% Christian in it populous.  That's right we are the majority.  Not you.  So I am going to write this article, and then I am going to make every effort I can to put an end to the minority running over the top of the majority in this country with their cries of foul when it comes to anything Christian.

This means that 15% of the total populous of America is either some other religion, or they practice no religion at all.  That of course is their choice and that choice is protected by the Constitution of this country.  However, so are the rights of the remaining 85% of the population’s rights protected by that same Amendment.

Let's look at what it says:

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion - this means that they cannot tell you or me what church to attend or what faith to believe or not believe.

Or prohibiting the free exercise thereof:  this means that neither congress nor the courts have the right to prohibit the free practice of religion, nor, if we move to the next part of this sentence "or abridging the freedom of speech" do they have the right to stifle the expression of our religion either by peaceful rally, peaceful gathering, or public speech or displays of religion.

Now I am not going to walk up to someone who is Jewish and tell them that they cannot display the Menorah during Chanukah, nor am I going to tell someone of any other faith that they may not display their symbols of their religion.   So why is it that some in this country feel they have the right to ruin my holiday, and my display of faithfulness to my chosen religion?  In many cases I would not recognize the signs of other's religions.  That's a fact.  I have no interest in their beliefs so I don't look for them to complain about them.

I do, however, read the news and I am sick of reading about the attacks of those who don't follow Christ attacking those who do, and calling it their right under the First Amendment. If a Christian says something regarding your disrespect then we are forcing ourselves on you, and attempting to force our religion down your throat.  How so?  I am not defiling your icons or requiring them to be removed from public view.  I am not in court filing lawsuits against your religion, or lack of it.  I am not telling your children that your parents are teaching you to worship a myth.  In fact I don't think it is my business to tell your children anything, after all in this country that is another freedom you have as long as you are not teaching them to break the law or abusing them.  You have the right to raise your children anyway you see fit.

But I forgot, that is not the case anymore now is it?  We have special groups, with special interest that have now decided that to be raised in a Christian home means that the child is being taught to hate.  Well apparently people who see things this way have never opened even one page of the bible.  But, beyond that because we teach that sin is wrong, and that some things are fostered in sin we are being told that we are teaching discrimination and hatred.

There are three versions of the published Ten Commandments (notice that word, it is not a weak request but a commandment) that God gave to Moses for man to live, in accordance with his plan.   There is the Jewish Version, the original version of the Commandments handed to Moses by God, the Catholic Version, and the Protestant Version.  I am a Born Again Christian, and it does not matter to me which version is displayed.  The reason for that is I believe that any one of them will set down standards that are acceptable to live in a civilized society.

Let's take a look at one version:  I will use the Catholic Version for this purpose, not because it is the best version, but because it gives the message in simplicity.

I am the Lord thy God. Thou shalt not have strange gods before me.     Okay so this defines the fact that you should not worship your cat, your dog, or your neighbor's car.  But you should put your faith in your Creator, a creator that is mentioned by all the founders of this country in nearly every document that was written at the time of its founding.

Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain.  This means you should not use His name to give false witness, in other words by swearing on a bible you have vowed to tell the truth, and if you fail to do so you have used the Lord's name in vain.   I wonder how many of us have gone to court and not taken this commandment seriously? How many because they have no faith have no remorse for blatantly lying under oath?

Remember thou keep the Sabbath Day.  This means to take a day of rest just as God did when he created the world.  So do you have an objection to a day off?    It would be nice if you remembered him on this day, and gave thanks for your blessings instead of tromping on those who do find enough time and energy to give thanks.

Honor thy Father and thy Mother.  This is something that has been lacking in this country for at least 40 years.  It started in the 60's when the kids raised by those who had gone without during the depression, gone through the worst war this country has ever know, were rewarded by their ungrateful children for giving them everything they possibly could despite the problems they lived through, with rebellion and disrespect. These ungrateful children spat on the parents that raised them by rejecting their values.

Thou shalt not kill.   The actual Hebrew translation is thou shalt not "murder". Well now, this one should have been posted in all the schools during the 80's and 90's when it became fashionable to kill your classmates as if human life meant nothing, especially if a drug deal had gone bad.   Of course the laws still say that you cannot murder another human being, but give the radicals a little more time, and this will become legal.  Oops I forgot it already is thanks to Roe V Wade.

Thou shalt not commit adultery.  Ah here we have it, if someone in this country were to actually take this commandment seriously, then the unwanted pregnancies that end in the murder of a human life, would stop, because if you don't commit adultery you don't have sex outside of a legal marriage that is blessed by God.   This one must really tie a knot into the tails of those who hate Christianity, after all what kind of moron would want to live a life that does not include multiple sexual partners, or sexual partners at an age where you are not emotionally prepared to deal with the consequences.

Thou shalt not steal.  Again this is something that every school child should have ingrained into their head.  Stealing is wrong, and it starts with something that is left out of this version of the Commandments, that is "Thou shalt not Covet".   Coveting what other's have is what is taking this country down the tubes.  When people covet what others have, but are unwilling to get them in the same manner that others get what they have, the problems begin.  The only way to acquire belongings is through hard work.   Children seem to believe that all it takes now is to want something; therefore they can take it whether it comes from a store, or someone's house.

Now other than the reference to a God in the first line of these Commandments could someone tell me what is offensive?   What part of this lesson would you not want your child to know?  Are you saying that there is something here, that because you don't believe in God, you would want your child not to know about and obey?

Which one?  Maybe the one that says they shall not steal, or maybe it is the one about killing, or maybe it is the one about obeying your parents or honoring your parents?  Is it that you want them to commit adultery and have sex before they are old enough to deal with the results?

Please someone needs to tell me exactly what the lesson is here, that is so offensive.

In the past couple of months, right before our holiday there have been several lawsuits over the commandments being displayed on public land, one of which was a narrow strip of land in front of a cemetery.  The cemetery is not owned by the city, but the strip of land that the monument sat on, was.  Now I ask you, does this monument bother you so much that you have to go through the trouble to find out who owns the land so you can file suit?  What is wrong with you people?   It would never occur to me to worry about who owned a piece of land in front of a cemetery.

I sincerely believe the reason for all this havoc is it is the only way you can draw attention to yourselves.   I visited the website of the American Atheist after the Newdow suit regarding the word "God" in the pledge of allegiance.   And low and behold he was mentioned on their site as an active member of their group, of course I knew this would be the case after listening to him tell O'Reilly that the reason for the suit is he was an atheist raising his Christian Daughter to be an Atheist and he resented the school making her say "God".   I suppose the four letter words she is bound to learn in school these days are perfectly okay however.

Fact is this man used his daughter, not because of his deeply held beliefs, but to further the cause of the American Atheist.  A group that until the 60's brought them out of their dark holes would have previously remained silent as they plotted to destroy our freedoms, as they are all practicing communist as well.  I guess no one told you folks Communism is dead.      We don't want that kind of government here, nor do we want the lack of religion that is a trademark of every country that tried to govern as communist.    This country was founded to allow religious freedom.   But apparently nothing is too disgusting to further their cause, not even lying about the faith or lack of faith of a 9 year old, who is actually in the full custody of her mother.

I don't believe the root of the problem is Islam, or Judaism, or Hinduism or any other religion.  I believe that most of what we are seeing in our courts is the work of one very tiny minority group, the American Atheist.   In fact a few minutes spent on their website is why I believe this to be true.  I read about their founder, a woman that was brutally murdered in the end, along with her children.  All but one, who had found his way out of her influence before the rest of the family was killed, they don't worship God instead they worship this Godless woman.   Yet, because of that it is their form of religion.

Hollywood is yet another influence in this country that seems to have gone completely out of control.  We keep hearing sex sells.  Well that may be true, but do we have to have it in its rawest form?  What happened to the girl next door, and the modest ways of the movies in the 50's and 60’s?  Didn't they make money also?  Or is it that greed makes it worth taking our values to the lowest point it can possibly get?   I wonder, since 85% of the American population claims to be Christian, would the other 15% that is non-Christian be able to support this industry by itself?  What would happen if Christians went on strike?  I mean what would happen to Hollywood's attitude that sex sells if 85% of the country wasn't buying?  Would it still be worth the cost?

Some say entertainment just reflects society?   Are you sure it is a reflection and not the element that sets the pace?   I mean look at the fashion industry, when things slow down they make major changes, and you are left with few options but to go along with whatever they foist on you this year.   I recently read an article where some teenage girls took up a petition to the local store, because they didn't want to look like Britney Spears, and they were appalled that nothing else was offered.   Who says Britney is the model for American teens?   And when did Walt Disney Studios go from family movies, to promoting smutty behavior?   Walt would be rolling over in his grave if he could see what has happened to his Mouseketeers.

For years the Christians in this country have been called the silent majority.  Well, I think it is time for us to stop being silent.  Do you have the conviction to make a difference?  Are you willing to make as much noise as the 1% fringe groups do in order to make this country safe for your children again?  Are you willing to just say no to the tearing down of our morals, our families and our way of life?  Are you willing to take a stand once and for all and vote with your wallet?  If so don't you think you could find something else to do for a while besides watching smutty movies, listening to smutty music, and allowing your kids to watch smutty television that corrupts their thought process.   Didn't any one in this generation ever hear the saying "Garbage in - Garbage Out"?  It is never too late to make a difference.

If there actually are 85% of the population that believes in a creator, and as such has the faith to call themselves Christian, why are you allowing and paying for the corruption of your children?

I would like to hear from those who find and read this article.  I am going to look for a way of to take a poll to find out how others feel about some of what we are being force fed these days.  I am also going to get petitions signed and letters sent to Hollywood director's asking them to stop the insanity they are pushing on our country.   It may be a reflection of our society, but I believe it is the old, which came first question all over again.

I also want to see some of our obscenity laws enforced.  If you haven't read them you should look them up.  Most of what we tolerate is still against the law, in nearly all states, if not all of them.

We don't need more laws, we just need to be able to make the punishment for breaking the existing laws so harsh that people stop wanting to break the law.  Right now all they seem to get is a slap on the hand.  I don't know about you, but that doesn't work in my house.

Now, I would ask you folks to live and let live.  I won't complain about the disgusting materials you set out there for entertainment, if you will stop complaining about my religion.  I won't complain that you want to have disgusting degrading bars, and multiple sex forms if you will stay away from our kids.

I won't complain that you may not live to see your 50th Birthday because of your chosen life style if you won't try to pay for it, by selling drugs to my children.

If you want to live that way fine, I am not going to attempt to change those who have already given over the soul, but if you believe what you say, then leave us alone, or we may just have to go on strike, and by doing so, you may find that your resources for causing trouble dries up quickly.

I believe that if Christians refused to support your businesses, and your immoral lifestyle by refusing to buy your products (it isn't hard to figure out who supports what), then it would not be long before you would find another place that is more accepting of socialistic/communistic behavior, and deviant practices.

I am a baby boomer, and I am ashamed of the damage my generation has brought upon our country.  Since when does immoral behavior deserve praise?  Since when does abandoning your wife and family deserve rewards?  Since when does leaving children to raise themselves make you a great generation, something to look to with pride.   Since when is setting an example of dropping out (leaving our families) deserve praise?  In my estimation it doesn't.  We should be ashamed of the damage we did, and should work hard to repair it before meeting our maker.

And I won’t be repulsed by your lack of religion if you will stop forcing it on us.
